Professor Sir Frederick Edward (Ned) Warner FRS died on 3 July 2010, aged 100. A service of thanksgiving and celebration will be held at Southwell Minster at 2.30 pm on Thursday 15 July. SCOPE remembers Sir Frederick with gratitude for his contributions to science, his engagement with our organisation, and his many personal qualities. In 1982 Warner was appointed Treasurer of SCOPE, serving to 1988. Over the period 1983-1999 he chaired three SCOPE projects of major importance: ENUWAR (Environmental Consequences of Nuclear War), RADPATH (Pathways of Artificial Radionuclides) and RADTEST (Radiation from Nuclear Test Explosions). 
The European Nitrogen Assessment Report will be launched in combination with a high-level policy workshop on Key Societal Threats of Nitrogen and on Integrating Nitrogen in Policy Making in Edinburgh, Scotland 11-15 April 2011. 
SCOPE co-hosted the expert consultation for the UNEP Year Book 2011 at the Paris Secretariat on 19-21 May 2010, having first canvassed the Members of SCOPE to identify emerging environmental issues--new challenges or new opportunities--that governments together with the scientific community and other stakeholders will need to take into consideration over the coming years.
SCOPE-Zhongyu Environmental Awards - SCOPE and the Zhongyu Environmental Technology Corporation, Jiangsu, China have just inaugurated a joint 10-year Environmental Awards Programme. 
The South East Asia regional center of the International Nitrogen Initiative (INI) is the co-sponsor of the 5th international nitrogen conference N2010 "Reactive Nitrogen Management for Sustainable Development - Science, Technology and Policy" to be held in New Delhi on 3-7 December 2010. 
The INI regional centre for Latin America will convene a session on “Nitrogen cycling in Latin America. What we know, where we stand and future scenarios” at the 2010 The Meeting of the Americas of the AGU (American Geophysical Union) - 8–13 August 2010 in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. 
“Urban futures and human and ecosystem wellbeing”, the first international meeting organised in the framework of SCOPE’s new programme on emerging urban system management will be co-organised by UNESCO, SCOPE and the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shanghai, China, on 26-30 October 2010. 
Livestock in a Changing Landscape - the launch of the 2 volumes took place at the Swiss College of Agriculture on 4-5 March 2010 in Zollikofen, Switzerland.
