The Scientific Programme

SCOPE projects develop state-of-the-art scientific reviews
of key environmental issues. They are initiated by one or more Members (Member Countries and Scientific Unions) and submitted to the General Assembly and the Executive Committee for review and approval.

A Scientific Advisory Committee establishes the objectives and oversees the conduct of the project workplan.

The 3-cluster structure of the scientific programme (Managing Societal and Natural Resources, Ecosystem Processes and Biodiversity, Health and Environment) promotes cross-programme coordination and interaction.

SCOPE network scientists also contribute their expertise to certain outreach activities, within international intergovernmental or non-governmental programmes, and closely collaborate with SCOPE partner organizations.
